Legacy of a Chair

Final Chair

                                                    Charcoal, 2015

Though at first the project seemed monumental, in the end, a simple drawing of a chair became a powerful experience. Through the process, I learned to use the tools I was given to their fullest potential. I chose to use exceedingly dark lines for both the light and dark lines on the chair, this allowed for a drastic difference in values. Unintentionally, the viewers’ eyes linger on the folds in the center, a brave few venture out into the other lines, but the center remains the strongest part. I believe that I have improved greatly at controlling my medium and keeping good line weight thus far.
